Winged Freedom Raptor Hospital Team

Founder, President and Veterinarian: Kimberly Ammann, DVM

Dr Kim Ammann is our founder and full time veterinarian. She brings over 25 years of experience as an avian veterinarian to handle the day to day medical and surgical needs of our patients. In addition to all of the medical oversight, Dr Kim is responsible for the operational duties of the nonprofit organization and oversees the hospital volunteers as they help her run the hospital. Her greatest joy comes from the successful release of raptors who come in with life threatening conditions that she is able to treat.

Dr. Ashley Schmal

Dr. Ashley Schmal has joined our medical staff and we are so happy to have her on board! Winged Freedom is truly a raptor hospital, with veterinarians managing our raptor patients and overseeing the operations of the hospital.
Dr Ashley practices locally at Leading Edge Veterinary Services caring for dogs and cats, and we have been nurturing her love of raptors for several months. She brings great veterinary skills to help us continue providing high quality medical and surgical services to wild raptors in northwest Wisconsin.

Treasurer, Dennis Dunn

Dennis retired from the USAF as a CM Sgt and started selling real estate until retiring. Dennis and his wife, Sue, are our lead rescue team. They volunteer their time and vehicle expenses to drive thousands of miles each year to pick up injured birds. They also help to coordinate other volunteer rescuers and Sue manages our shirt sales and inventory.

Secretary, Brian Gaskill, DO

Dr Gaskill is currently a family practitioner in Spooner, WI. He provides Winged Freedom with advice and guidance and serves as our Board’s secretary. He has a strong interest in raptors and helps our veterinarian with medical evaluations.
