GET INVOLVED
There are many ways to support Winged Freedom and make a meaningful difference for birds of prey. Whether through donating, volunteering your time, or helping with rescue and transport, your involvement plays a vital role in saving and protecting raptors in our care.
You can support our work by purchasing needed supplies directly from our Amazon Wish List.
We gratefully accept in-person donations at the hospital, which directly support medical care, food, and daily operations. Please call ahead so we can coordinate a convenient drop-off time.
HOSPITAL VOLUNTEERS
Hospital volunteers commit to working the same morning each week and assist with daily patient care. Duties include meal preparation, cleaning enclosures, laundry, assisting with procedures, and general hospital upkeep. Extensive training is required, and weekly commitment is expected.
RESCUE & TRANSPORT VOLUNTEERS
Rescue and transport volunteers attend a mandatory training session and provide their own basic equipment, such as gloves and totes. When a rescue call occurs in their area, they respond to safely capture, contain, and transport the bird to our hospital. Because we serve all of northwest Wisconsin, we rely on volunteers throughout the region.
FISH AND MEAT DONATIONS
We gratefully accept donations of whole fish, bow-shot venison, and other appropriate carcasses to help feed the birds in our care. To ensure proper nutrition and safety, we are unable to accept fish guts or freezer-burned meat, as our patients require high-quality food. If you are saving fish to donate, please freeze them whole and individually separated so they can be thawed as needed.
